BOOKS

BOOKS - Tristan O Shannessy

BOOKS - Trapped in suburbia- Creative City, The Hague

BOOKS - POP-UP

BOOKS - Trapped in Suburbia 'Hi Brand Book'

BOOKS - Where there is smoke there is fire

Really like the idea of a multi functional book. Really bold, effective designs inside. contrasting the simple black and white cover. Not what you expect.

BOOKS

Interesting take on a book design. Very compact!

BOOKS

I chose this book design as I really like the design on its cover. The colours work really well together and the various simple mechanical images fit together well. Really good balance.

BOOKS - JIHAD LAHHAM

This design is really interesting as it intergrates both a regular book design with a fold out section. I also think the small sections which pop-up work really well on the plain page and bring something to life which is quite simple and plain.

WHAT IF...

From these 100 photos we had to use a word to underpin the majority of the photos, I decided upon 'outdoors'. Then with this we were put into groups according to our word. The other words in our group are ; 1. Experiences,
2. Eerie and Creepy,
3. Abstract moments of life,
4. Faces and Emotions and
5. Outdoors.
Now from these we have to consider a problem which is apparent in Leeds, research thoroughly and present a way of solving this problem.

100 Photos

Below is a collection of 100 photos I have taken of people, places, textures, words and objects.

Circles

Here is a collection of 25 photos taken today around college. We were put into pairs and given the word 'circle'. Over 2 hours we had to take 100 photos of circles giving ourselves restrictions and rules. Our rules were; The circle must be in the centre of the frame and it must be a 3 dimensional object. These were my favourites.

After creating the 3 posters from our research we then were asked to create 10 11.5cm by 16cm mail shots which held information of the research collected. We again could only use 2 colours plus stock and had just two weeks to complete it. All ten mail shots had to be the same design(proving the products consistancy). With this had to be a mailing list, consisting of 10 places suitable for the product to be sent.

No News Is Good News; part 2

After collecting research on a chosen artical we then had one week to produce three posters which communicated something visually stimulating but simple from one fact pulled out of that research. One poster was to be fully image based, one fully text and one a mixture of the two. To start off we were asked to quickly write down 10 adjectives and 10 verbs and then to draw 10 symbols and 10 images all relating to that chosen subject. This really got the ball rolling and kicked off simple, effective visual ideas for communicating something. The aim was not to over complicate it.

I actually found this quite difficult. It is hard not to see it as an advertising campaign. My topic was the growing number of deaths from alcohol each year and so my aim was to attempt to find a way to slow peoples drinking habits down. I latched on to the fact that 'YOUR BODY TAKES APPROXIMATELY ONE HOUR TO PROCESS JUST ONE UNIT OF ALCOHOL' this seemed to prove alcohol's strength and also our bodies weaknesses to it... simply.

Yet I really did start to over think this. I kept trying to think of an advertising slogan as opposed to just keeping it to the fact. I decided to stop and rethink my plans. By then looking back at the images we first drew I realised i could use just a simple image of a pint of beer to express the topic and then the words would just explain why its there.
